How do I sign up?

Visit roster.ie and create an account, or download the app on iOS or Android. You'll add your name, roles (bartender, waiter, kitchen porter, etc.), skills, and availability. The whole process takes about 2 minutes.

Nothing, roster is free for workers. Every shift shows your exact take-home pay: the amount that lands in your account. No deductions, no agency cut, no surprises.

How do I get paid?

Your earnings reach your roster wallet within 48 hours of clocking out, usually sooner when the venue confirms your hours. From there you have two options: standard payout, free, 2-3 working days (first payout may take a little longer), or instant payout within minutes (3% fee, your balance must have cleared). Both require setting up Stripe Connect in the app, which takes a couple of minutes.

What is the minimum pay?

You will never earn less than €14.25/hr on roster, regardless of what the venue posts. This floor ensures every shift meets minimum wage requirements.

Do I need hospitality experience?

Not necessarily. Many roles like glass collector, cleaner, and event staff are entry-level. Your reliability score and rating build over time and help venues choose you, even without years of experience.

What if I need to cancel a shift?

You can cancel, but cancellations within 24 hours of the shift start affect your reliability score. If you have a genuine reason (illness, family emergency), you can provide a mitigating reason which reduces the impact on your score.

What documents do I need?

A valid photo ID (passport, EU ID card, or driving licence) and a selfie for identity verification. Before your first payout, you'll also need your PPS number and date of birth for tax reporting (DAC7 compliance).

Can I work at multiple venues?

Yes. There are no exclusivity requirements. You can work at as many venues as you like and pick up shifts from any venue on the platform.

Am I an employee or a contractor?

You work as an independent contractor. You handle your own tax (Income Tax, PRSI, USC), and roster is the marketplace, not your employer. Full detail is in our terms.

Can this turn into a full-time job?

Yes. Venues post permanent jobs on roster too, and plenty of hiring starts with a single good shift. We will never stand in the way.

How much does roster cost?

Posting permanent jobs is always free. For shifts, you pay the all-in rate you set, the price you see is the price you pay, with no agency markup on top (agencies charge 25-40%). No subscription, no setup cost, no minimum commitment, and you only pay for completed shifts.

How does payment work?

When you accept a worker, a hold is placed on your payment method. After the shift, you confirm the hours worked and the payment is captured. If you don't confirm within 7 days, it's captured automatically. Workers are paid directly, no invoicing on your end.

What if a worker doesn't show up?

Report the no-show in the app. The payment hold is released, the worker's reliability score takes a significant hit, and repeat offenders are suspended from the platform.

Can I rehire the same workers?

Yes. After a shift, you can add workers to your favourites pool. When you post a new shift, your favourites who match the role are automatically invited first. You can also rebook a specific worker directly from a completed shift.

Are workers verified?

Yes. Every worker completes ID verification (photo ID + selfie match) before they can apply for shifts. Workers also have a public reliability score, star rating, and shift count that builds over time.

Yes. Venue groups let you manage multiple locations from a single account, with shared favourites and consolidated reporting.

Is there a contract or minimum commitment?

No. Pay as you go. Post one shift or a hundred, there is no contract, no lock-in, and no minimum spend.

What do event tickets cost to sell?

Venues pay nothing to sell tickets. Ticket buyers pay a booking fee of €0.50 plus 2% of the ticket price, shown as one line before payment. The booking fee is non-refundable unless the event is cancelled.

How do I refund a ticket buyer?

Always refund through roster, not your own card terminal. An in-app refund returns the money AND cancels the ticket's QR code; a terminal refund leaves the ticket valid at the door. Refunding a single ticket returns its ticket price to the buyer; cancelling the whole event refunds everyone in full including booking fees.
